I interview Annie Camacho she is 18 years old and she stayed SIS 9years and she is president of student council. She is in senior class right now and 2and half month later she would graduate. I interview about colleges and her accomplishment and failure of her colleges.
I asked her How do you feel that you are going to graduate? She said she is Unbelievably excited and anxious, but also pretty nervous. I asked her what school are you planning to go she said she still not 100% sure but right now she is planning on attending Loyola University Chicago. I asked her which school do you hope to get in? She wanted to get into all the schools she applied to of course—no one likes getting rejected. Her top choices were Loyola Chicago, University of Michigan, and University of San Diego I asked her did you applied for early decision? She said she did not apply for early decision because she was not 100% sure where I wanted to go and I didn’t want to be bound to anything. I asked her Did you applied for early action?
She said Yes! she applied to most of the schools early. It helped A LOT in the long run. She heard back from a lot of schools by December so it definitely lifts a huge weight off of your shoulders. It does make senioritis especially horrible to deal with though. Once you get into college, high school becomes really hard to focus on. Early action is definitely the way to go though. I asked her how many schools did you put it in and she said she applied for
She said she applied to eight schools.
What is your accomplishment during senior year?
Getting into college of course!!!
I asked her What was her failure during senior year?
She don’t think she have FAILED at anything but there are things she would try to do better at… like AP Statistics.
I asked her if she have chance to go back to high school year and what did she want to fix it ands she said
If she could go back to any year in high school she would go back to freshman year because it was her favorite year of high school BUT she would focus more on trying to improve her math skills because the math section on the SAT didn’t look so hot on my score report. If she had gotten into the right mindset about math from the start I know she would have done better at the end.
What do you want to study about at college?
She is going to be a nursing major… for now. A lot of college freshmen change their majors so she won’t be surprised if she end up changing mine. But for now that’s where she is starting and hopefully that’s where she’ll stay. She also want to minor in Spanish and study abroad… preferably in Europe—that would amazing.
What advice does she want to give to juniors?
By the end of your junior year, KNOW the schools you want to apply to. Have a list ready and over the summer research those schools and keep browsing for more. Try to have an idea of what you would like to major in… any hunch helps a lot. No one expects you to know at seventeen what EXACTLY you want to do with the rest of your life but it would be bad to go to a school that does not offer what you are interested in. Her dream school did not offer the major she was interested in and so I had to readjust my dreams. Her biggest piece of advice would be to focus on the future RIGHT now, as juniors. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way, whether it be community service, varsity sports, or any other activity—not only do they make your transcript look great but they can uncover hidden talents or passions and you often get the chance to meet great people. By the time senior year starts you should be filling in those applications and you should have a pretty good idea about the direction you want to head in. The bottom line is this— once you begin senior year, your whole life will start to change. The choices you make will matter more than anything ever has. You will begin to determine what the rest of your life will be, so take it seriously.
Lastly do you want to say about anything?
High school flies by. Especially Senior year… she think that’s because only the first semester actually counts. And first semester you are too busy stressing about getting into college and writing all the essays and dreaming about where you’ll end up and what kind of future you want for yourself. It is never too early to start thinking about where you want to go or what you want to do with your life, but don’t forget to enjoy high school for all that it is. Most importantly, dream big—it’s your life, make what you want out of it.
